WCHC Nationals Recap...

The WCHC was well represented at the ACHA National tournament, with two of the four teams from the West Division from the WCHC. ASU and NAU both traveled to Florida, and competed for the National Championship. NAU was unable to secure a win in, arguably, the toughest pool at the tournament. ASU won their first two games, and tied the third. In a tie with 5 points, ASU lost in the third tiebreaker, fewest goals against, as Michigan State advanced to the National Semifinal game. Both teams should be proud of their great seasons, advancing as one of the top 16 teams in the nation out of 175 teams. Congratulations to the two Arizona teams from the WCHC on representing not only the WCHC, but the West proudly.

WCHC Headed to Nationals...

The WCHC has a new first, sending not only it's first team to ACHA Nationals, but it's first two. ASU, the regular season champions of the WCHC, had an automatic bid. Joining them will be NAU, who finished second in the WCHC tournament, as they won their way through Regionals to qualify. The two other WCHC teams in regionals did not qualify, however UNLV won their first game and lost in a semifinal that would have qualified them for the tournament. Good luck in Nationals ASU and NAU.

Rebels Roll...

Playing their best hockey of the season, the UNLV Rebels rolled through their two WCHC Championship games and won the WCHC Tournament and 2012 title. The Rebels first faced an upbeat CSULB team, who the night before had beated Fullerton 10-2. UNLVjumped to an early lead and won that game 11-1. Following an NAU victory over LMU, the UNLV Rebels played NAU for the title. UNLV scored first and didn't look back, winning the game 6-2. Congratulations to the UNLV Rebels on winning the WCHC Championship.
